Rain HNT
Oh my gosh...who else is just totally SICK of all this rain? Now, I know all of you don't live in the northern hemisphere, but it's been a sad, dreary spring where I am. "Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun...please shine down on me?!"
I am a huge Vancouver Canuks fan and they are playing for the Stanley Cup as I type this. I'm sorely disappointed that they haven't scored yet, but haven't given up faith. It's not only because they are a Canadian team, but because I recall very well the excitement in 1994 when they played the New York Rangers to game seven in Vancouver. Unfortunately, they didn't pull through and there was a subsequent riot in the city...me, safely in my apartment with a really cool chick I knew, drinking beer and watching the insanity unfold on television. Ahhhh the old days, well loved memories. I actually booked that night off work so that I could drink beer and watch hockey. Here we are again seventeen years later...hoping for a more positive outcome. GO VANCOUVER! Rrrr...third period now and Boston is up 3-0 not cool...and they have now won the Stanley Cup. Crap. I'm going to hear about this tomorrow for sure.
OK, so here it is...I've been gone so long that I'm afraid people won't really notice much if I post or not. That's not a "poor me" statement as I've been busy with other things and can't worry about that right now but I really am an attention hog when I'm out and about in my kittenish way.
On Relay for Life:
It's next Friday! Holy crap on a cracker it snuck up on me again! This year I chaired the Survivor portion of the Relay for Life event by myself. Of course, I have had good council and a lovely volunteer who gathered up many prizes to give at my event. What a treasure she is. I love Relay. I love the feeling of 'one' when we are there. It's a great thing to see so many people come together for a cause that effects so many of us. It's right down to the pinch now since my local event takes place on June 24. I've got the food, volunteers and speakers under control. I've missed a couple of small things along they way but and really getting into a grove. The only disadvantage is that I often leave my personal team fundraising until very late in the game. I'm doing all right though. I've been asking around at work.
On health:
I recently had more blood tests. A re-test on Celiac, Thyroid, B12, iron, folic acid, as well as various cholesterol/heart related tests. Apparently, everything but my thyroid is above average on the plus side. Can't complain there. Obviously the gluten free diet agrees with me. I have to go back in three months to have more blood drawn to see what's up with my high levels on the thyroid thing. hmmm...
My bubba was recently diagnosed with ADHD. He's been off the red dye for the past four years or so and eats quite healthy. We're doing all we can until we can see a pediatrician at the end of the summer. He's a very bright boy and he will do just fine. He's always been very special. It's all good. My first born is in fabulous health, which is wonderful.
On happiness:
I'm just fucking happy. I feel calmer than I ever have before. Not just in recent years, but in my life. I believe some of this to be diet/health related but it's so much more than that. I've always had anxiety problems, and by that I mean hyperventilating and all, not fun. While I sort of feel it coming on at times, I am able to sort it out before it becomes an issue. Do you know something? For the first time ever, I have consistently spent over a year hanging out with the same man and he has yet to say anything truly hurtful or negative about me. I'm so glad to have such a great friend and lover in my dirty blond. I don't say much because I get tired of having everyone tell me how much hurt I am in for. Do you think I don't realize this? I really do have my eyes open. I will always look back on this time in my life very fondly. That's just how I roll. My life is enriched. I am in a good head space. End of rant, nothing to see here.
